Welcome to Laurie Conger Pottery!

I am a Michigan artist. A graphic artist, designer, and watercolorist by trade, I discovered the absolute joy of creating in clay a few years back, and now cosider myself a potter first and foremost. My pottery focuses on functional work. The idea of having a little work of art that you can hold in your hands and incorporate into your daily life appeals to me on several levels. I mostly work in two clays, a stoneware with specks that burn through my glazes, and a beautiful, creamy white for times when I need sharp, clear colors. My studio is in Port Austin, Michigan, on the Great Lake Huron. I would be lying if I said I didn't have the best of all worlds here: lakeshore quiet to concentrate on my art 'off season' and the hustle-bustle of tourist, teaching, and art show activity - as well as sales - during the summers.

All my pottery pieces are original, mostly wheel thrown, hand-designed and decorated. Because they are hand made, each piece may vary slightly from the next. They are food safe, oven-proof, microwave friendly and dishwasher safe. I recommend using the microwave only for reheats, not for baking. Test it as you go. All microwaves are a bit different.
